What happens if I miss one or more classes?

Unfortunately, these are progressive classes; as such, any missed classes are unable to be made up or credited.

I took class elsewhere. Can I still enroll?

For this class, pups are required to have graduated Level 2 at The Pet Republic and received instructor permission.

Do I attend class with my dog?

The first class is a HUMANS ONLY orientation, so your dog should not be in attendance for that. For the remaining five classes, you should plan to bring your pup.

Can multiple handlers attend class?

Unfortunately, at this time, we are still only allowing one handler per pup unless otherwise stated in the class description. Handlers can switch off between each class session, however.

I'd like for my child to attend as the dog's handler. Is that okay?

As much as we love the idea of the whole family being involved with your pup’s training, all handlers in class MUST be over the age of 18.

What vaccines does my dog need for class?

Pups under 6 months old are required to show proof of DHPP. Any pup over 6 months old is required to show proof of both DHPP and Rabies. Vaccine history can be submitted at the time of enrollment, via email or brought to class in person.

Will this class certify my dog as a therapy or service dog?

This class is focused on the public access aspects of therapy and service. It does NOT include full task training or therapy dog certification, and as such does NOT qualify a dog to gain service privileges, including access to places where pet dogs are not allowed.

My dog is highly reactive or fearful. Will they be alright to attend class?

Unfortunately, pups who have a are highly reactive or fearful are not a good fit for these classes. Please contact the office for more detailed information on your options.

My dog is in heat. Can she still attend class?

Unfortunately, a pup in active heat is not allowed to attend class, so you will need to reschedule accordingly!

What method do you use for training?

We are a LIMA-based facility, meaning we use the least intrusive, minimally aversive methods to train and modify behavior. We focus on using positive reinforcement to teach the dog what TO do. We do not use e-collars, prongs, or choke collars.

My dog is sick with ____. Can they still join classes?

Poor pup! Unfortunately, they cannot attend class until they are cleared. Before your pup can return to classes, you will need to supply a note from your vet stating that your dog is “healthy, non-contagious and appropriate for a group setting.” The note should be emailed to the office before you resume classes.
