Level One

Level One is where ALL pet republicans start their training journey, laying the foundation to become the ultimate citizen dog! In these modular classes, pups will work to master a set of six skills to earn stamps and level up. This allows training teams to progress through the curriculum as quickly as or as slowly as they need – every pup and person is different, and it’s important to respect that!

Once your pup masters the graduation criteria for Level One, they can level up and join Level 2! It also unlocks the ability to register for our specialty classes like Nosework and Agility.

To allow the most flexible scheduling possible, all of our classes are modular! This means you can join any class of your level on any day of the week without fear of content. It also allows you to reschedule days if your own schedule changes, rather than being locked into one day/time every week.

Cost: $240 for six classes.
Duration: 50 minutes.
Requirements:
– Dog is over 20 weeks old.
– Handler is over the age of 18.
– Maximum of two handlers per dog.
– Dog has received Rabies and DHPP vaccines.

Take a look at our frequently asked questions for more information about Level 1 class.

Do I attend class with my dog?

Yes! Our Levels classes are in person, so you should plan for someone to attend with your pup.

Can multiple handlers attend class?

Yes! A maximum of two handlers per pup are allowed in class, and they must both be over the age of 18.

I'd like for my child to attend as the dog's handler. Is that okay?

As much as we love the idea of the whole family being involved with your pup’s training, all handlers in class MUST be over the age of 18.

What happens if I miss one or more classes?

If you are signed up for a class and fail to show up, or attempt to withdraw less than 12 hours before the start, you will lose the class credit.

Can I attend multiple classes?

Sure, as long as the classes aren’t on back to back days, and you don’t exceed three sessions per week!

What vaccines does my dog need for class?

We require proof of up to date Rabies and DHPP. That can be submitted at the time of enrollment, via email or brought to class in person.

I took class elsewhere. Can I sign up for Level 2?

Because our classes have a set graduation criteria, all pups must attend at least one session of Level 1 in order to move into upper levels. If your pup is able to complete the six skills and receive their stamp, you are welcome to use the remainder of your package on the next level!

My dog is in Level 1 and only has one skill left to graduate, but I know he can do it. Can I sign him up for Level 2?

Unfortunately, pups have to complete each of the six skills during class, observed by a trainer and in the presence of other dogs. Until they are able to meet that requirement, they cannot sign up for Level 2.

Where can I see graduation criteria for the class?

You will receive access to the graduation criteria when you enroll in your first class, as well as video examples!

Is there material to work on at home?

There’s always work to do outside of class! We will send home video and written guides for each class skill. Consistent work outside of class is the key to building a reliable cue. 🙂

Help! I already purchased a package but can't seem to find the link to enroll in class.

No problem! The class enrollment link is sent out via email when you purchase your package. Alternatively, if you click the button above that says ‘View Class Availability’ and then use the red button on the following page, you should be able to enter your EMAIL ADDRESS to apply your credits and get scheduling!

My dog is highly reactive or fearful. Will they be alright to attend class?

While it’s hard to tell prior to meeting your pup, we suggest scheduling a free phone consult to chat with a trainer about what the best fit for your pup is. You can do that using the CONTACT US page.

My dog is in heat. Can she still attend class?

Unfortunately, a pup in active heat is not allowed to attend class, so you will need to reschedule accordingly!

What method do you use for training?

We are a LIMA-based facility, meaning we use the least intrusive, minimally aversive methods to train and modify behavior. We focus on using positive reinforcement to teach the dog what TO do. We do not use e-collars, prongs, or choke collars.

My dog is sick with ____. Can they still join classes?

Poor pup! Unfortunately, they cannot attend class until they are cleared. Before your pup can return to classes, you will need to supply a note from your vet stating that your dog is “healthy, non-contagious and appropriate for a group setting.” The note should be emailed to the office before you resume classes.
